Anxiety Can Be A Friend

We may think of anxiety as a curse but the fact is that it can actually transform us for the better.

It could be the hidden opportunity to become a bigger and better person than you already are.

At least that’s the way it worked for me.

Dealing with anxiety taught me self-acceptance and that the only way to overcome fears and worries is by first accepting them.

Accepting what we don’t like about ourselves can be a source of great strength.

It takes a lot of energy to suppress things down; stop suppressing by accepting and that energy will be there for you; you’ll become a stronger and better person.

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross wrote:

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”

Just take a moment and imagine; how your life will be after you finally break free from anxiety?

Embrace that bigger YOU that’s waiting just around the corner.

So, here are my 2¢ to help you deal with anxiety and turn around that corner…

1. Stop resisting your fears and worries.

Don’t try to fight; it engages your fight-or-flight response and makes things worse.

Accept; even embrace your fears and worries.

I know it’s hard but just think for a moment; aren’t these yours? Isn’t it a part of yourself who is crying and trying to tell you something?

If your child is crying and shouting you could choose to:

  1. Ignore
  2. Shout back
  3. Accept and listen.

2. Relax your mind or meditate

You can’t listen to your inner self if you can’t slow down and allow for some silence.
